Early Years Foundation Stage

 These areas of learning are covered daily and your child's progress will be documented in their Learning Journeys. 

Playdays Preschool use an online journey service called Tapestry. The online journey has become an instrumental part of sharing information with parents. Parents are able to download the app on to their phone and will receive notifications when there is a new observation of their child uploaded. Parents also have the opportunity to share photos and updates such as days out, birthdays, milestones and any information for their child's keyworkers. Each child also has a folder at the Preschool which documents their progress and holds their very precious first work at Playdays.
 

Your child's Learning Journey will be completed by your child, yourselves and the Preschool.  Contributions from home are invaluable in building your child's confidence and self-esteem so we encourage all parents to feed in to the learning journey as often as they would like to.  You are welcome to speak with your child's keyperson or either of the Managers at any time and meetings are held throughout the year to discuss your child's progress and how they are enjoying their time at Playdays.

We do not base our learning environment on preset themes, however we start off each term with a topic and see how it develops from the children's own ideas and interests.  For example we started the term talking and learning about animals and noticed that  a group of children were showing a keen interest in dinosaurs so we changed the topic to dinosaurs and consequently arranged a visit to the National History Museum.  Our belief that children learn from spontaneous play ideas and first hand experiences often prompts visits to enhance their learning.  These have included trips to the supermarket, library, Planetarium, Park, Schools, ecology centre and many more interesting places.  No trips will be undertaken without parental permission and high adult/child ratios.
